Outback Steakhouse is an Australian-themed American casual dining restaurant chain, serving American cuisine, based in Tampa, Florida. The chain has over 1,000 locations in 23 countries throughout North and South America, Asia, and Australia. It was owned and operated in the United States by OSI Restaurant Partners until it was acquired by Bloomin' Brands, and by other franchise and venture agreements internationally.

Tun Yang says of the food, "Chewy and hard to eat meat for Outback Special, watery coleslaw with uneven cut of carrots. Flies everywhere [at Outback Steakhouse], on my food that I no longer managed to finish it.

The Daily Mail reported on their cultural insensitivity, noting that "Australian-themed restaurant chain Outback Steakhouse has been criticized for calling its house sauce 'Outback Ab-Original'."

"Management doesn’t care about you. Worked there since i was 16, and only gotten worse since. Pay isn’t good unless it is holiday seasons. No sick day “or you are fired”. No paperwork on write ups or call outs. They have “favorites” and they have employees. They do not follow conduct of orders on employee rights."

"The proprietor straight up lies and steals money from employees. If you aren't one of her favorites well than, good luck to you. She will make you hate your job and try to get you to quit. "For a company who promises clear direction, it doesn’t happen. You will get the run around and screwed around and there’s no consistency. Biggest mistake I ever made was working for this company. Glad I left"

"I work for them for 6 months . My second day in training my trainer slapped my hand twice. Went to manager they assigned me another trainer. 5th day of training my first trainer slapped my hand again as I was training in expo. Covid 19 happened. We came back and then the Co worker would swat at me. Went to EVERY MEMBER OF MANAGEMENT. The GM AND PROPRIETOR ASKED ME IF IT HURT. Was assured I was not fired or in trouble for coming to him. Two days later they fired me for having a problem w being slapped!!! The Co worker who was slapping me was also fired. Unbelievable. DO NOT GO TO MANAGEMENT W ANY PROBLEMS OR YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR JOB"

"I worked here for over a year and I was never moved up from a host to server. There are four managers and they are absolutely terrible at communication. They do not respect their employees and are very wishy washy with everything they tell you. The actual jobs themselves are easy and quite quick to comprehend. My only issue would be the managers. They don't know what they are doing at all.Might get free food is you close.Managers are terrible"

"If you enjoy 58 hour work weeks, 14 hours days and no breaks, Outback is job for you.The most stressful work environment I've ever been in, every single staff member there is a back biter and fake. I only give this job one star because one of my managers truly made that job worth it, and that was one location and I made good money. Everything else, a zero. Horrible place.Everything."

"I worked for Outback for 14 years and was fired because a friend lent me money. My husband had left me with my kids in a bad situation. Someone who I worked with and knew for 27 years lent me money. I had never been written up, there was never a conversation. I was just fired. Unfortunately people who felt I was knew too much about what they were doing helped in getting me fired.The staff loved me and i loved them, they were like my kids.Pay was not very good, lack of care for their people."

"Whether it be the employees the management brings in, the scumbag management themselves, or the upper corporate management that does nothing at all, this job introduced me to some of the worst people I’ve ever met. The store was never clean, EcoSure inspections were regularly failed, the plumbing was constantly leaking sewage into the kitchen and dining room, and theft was commonplace. If you’re thinking about applying, don’t- save yourself the headache...Literally nothingQuite literally everything"

"Working there for a year in a half was HORRIBLE. They do not care about their employees, and servers and bartenders that where there for 7+ years stepped down or left because of how horrible the place was. DO NOT WORK THERE"

"Maybe this was just the restaurant I worked for, but my time at Outback was terrible. My manager was rude, insensitive, and only cared about profit and her customers. She could care less about her employees. If you asked for time off, you'd get denied or verbally abused for it. She would call employees "stupid" to their faces, and yell in the kitchen when someone wasn't doing their job right. On top of that, there was no vacation pay, no health insurance, and the pay was terrible. I worked as a host and made $200 every two weeks, and that was as a full-time 32 hours a week employee. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with working at Outback."

"Went to the outback in Charlotte NC on IKEA Blvd and it was the worst food ever!!! We go to outback a couple of times a month and this was by far the worst ever. The filet was so tough you could not eat it (I don’t think it was a filet) and the salmon was burnt and dry. The manager Dwayne was too supposedly busy to come to our table. However, he was sitting by the bar having an ice tea. The food was in editable. "

"Ordered outback from Ankeny Iowa Got it home and started pulling out my order and first was a salad, opened the ranch and their was lettuce in the ranch didn’t think much of it until I was eating my salad and found a dead fly in it I put my salad aside and started on my steak I ordered a medium My steak was so tuff and so rare I couldn’t hardly eat it I called and spoke with a manager whom repeatedly would pick up and tell me she was really busy and before I could say ok she already had me on hold three times it was done to me Finally after 17 minutes on hold she answered again and said sorry were busy here what can I help you with As I told her what happened she stated sorry that happened but I can’t give you your money back. I ordered Uber to deliver take in mind She told me I would I’ve to call Uber to get my money back Very disappointed with them She also stated this doesn’t happen all the time so we hope you’ll consider that and come back “we’re all human” I felt like she was making it to be my problem I told her thanks and I’ll not be coming back not because of my order but how I was treated as a customer for calling to make a complaint on an order I spent over $60 total on including my kids meals"

"Started ordering Outback delivery in ft Wayne. First few times I ordered filet mignon steak and always order it medium rare. First few times were very good. Next time my steak was cold and overdone. I called and spoke to manager. She sent me a gift certificate which I appreciated. Fast forward to tonite. I ordered a 10 oz ribeye medium rare and again I was very disappointed. The meat was medium at best and looked and tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. I wish I could attach a photo here."

"There food is horrible ? me and my fam ate there and I got the fila steak medium and french fries I cut my stake and it was different colors and I couldn't even cut it it was like literally mooing I could of kept it as a pet my mom cut her stake and it crawled of the table!!!! There service was horrible too they weren't doing the 6ft rule with the tables and the manager didn't even introduce herself all she said was the stakes will be here in 2 mins everyone was complaining about there food!! I would never eat there again.!!! Fwi this is outback steakhouse located on comerstiol way!!!"

"Horrible service. 1 menu for our entire group of 4. You ask why? Me too. According to the server it is expensive to make menus, seriously??? My thoughts , for the cost of your food , if you can't afford to give everyone a menu....maybe just maybe YOU SHOULD JUST CLOSE YOUR DOORS! ALSO ....very rude when asked why we can't have additional menus. Was told to use my phone. Seriously ? My phone was in my car , who would have known you need your phone in a restaurant just so I can order food. In conclusion, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE, ok maybe millennials ?"
